After a slightly different Wimbledon Championship this year with Covid-19 restrictions, its actually turned out to be a success with the rise of a future star Emma Rabucanu, the weather behaving itself (most of the time) and some good showings from the old guard, The Women’s Final is set to be a lively affair with 2 players seemingly untested this should be good.
Ashleigh Barty #1 vs Karolina Pliskova #13, 2pm Saturday 10th July 2021
These two stars have met on 7 previous occasions, Barty leading 5-2 but that stat means very little when it comes to the Wimbledon Final.
Both Women have only dropped an astonishing 1 yes One set each in making it to the final. Barty beat Kerber 6-3 7-6 and Pliskova took out No2 seed Sabalenka 5-7 6-4 6-4 to advance through there Semi-Finals.
Before the tournament and even before the semi-finals, I would have backed Barty without question. The Australian has the most versatile game in women’s tennis, and it can frustrate even the most seasoned opponent. After watching what Pliskova did to Aryna Sabalenka in the semis, though, I have to change my mind. Pliskova’s raw power was controlled and measured, she hit her opponent off the court. Her serve is basically impossible to match right now Barty’s slices and game won’t help her if she can’t start rallies. The power is too much, and Pliskova is playing the best tennis of her career. I like the Czech to win the first Major of her career and if she keeps serving like this, there will be many more to come.
Pliskova Win @2/1
Total sets 3 @6/4
No double faults served in the match @100/1
