A few things to know about ultimate frisbee:

  1. A typical score is in the high teens or low 20s, such as 19-17 or 23-20. A high score would be in the high 20s, and a low score would be in the low teens. Every time players move the disc down the field and catch it in the endzone that is 1 point.

  2. A typical game is a little over 2 hours. Teams play one or two games a week every weekend in a 12-week season.

  3. Wait for active rosters to be released. Most ultimate players do not make enough to quit their day jobs. As such players will sometimes miss games for conflicts, vacations, etc. The active rosters are released Thursdays or so at theAUDL.com/League/Schedule (click on “Game Centre” for any game) and list the 20 players for each game. While this might seem annoying, it actually presents a ton of value for bettors, as teams can be overrated or underrated depending on which players made the active roster.

  4. Don’t bet on Detroit unless you like losing money. Update for 2022: Detroit is lowkey good this year. Maybe bet on Detroit.

  5. The best teams in the league are typically Dallas, New York, Raleigh, San Diego, Chicago, Madison, Toronto, DC, Minnesota, etc though this year there have been a lot of surprises with Dallas sucking, Atlanta emerging, and the Canadian teams having their own competition, etc.

  6. The league has a lot of parity, so there aren’t typically really many “bad” teams aside from Detroit. Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh are having rough seasons this year though.

  7. Detroit is like if you took the 2008 Lions and made them 0-45 instead. For real. They’ve lost 45 games in a row. Not a joke.

  8. Update for 2022: Detroit had an excellent offseason. If their signed players play they will probably win a few games.
