Conor McGregor makes his highly awaited return to fighting on January 23 to match up against Dustin Poirier in a rematch of their September 2014. Can ‘The Notorious’ dominate at UFC 257 or can ‘The Diamond’ avenge the knockout defeat he suffered just over six years ago?
The second match up is a much different fight compared to the 2014 meeting when a red-hot McGregor strolled into the Octagon and ruthlessly dispatched Poirier in just under two minutes. This fight will almost certainly last longer, but we do believe that we will see the same outcome. Poirier had to rally to win his fight with Dan Hooker earlier this year, after losing the first two rounds, and if he does not start better here he could find himself staring up at the lights because McGregor will not let him off the hook. Conor is the most talented and dangerous striker that Poirier has and probably ever will face, and he has that finishing power that can be unleashed in the blink of an eye. That will be evidenced here as McGregor stops Poirier before the end of Round 2. Expect a slow start feeling out process, round 2 Conor catches and lands ground and pound K.O via punches.
