Wimbledon Ladies Semi Finals look set to be mouth watering ties after what has been a different Championship this year with Covid-19 restrictions and the rise of a new British starlet Emma Raducanu, the final will feel like a bit of normality in front of a packed Centre Court, but who will be there.
Ashleigh Barty vs Angelique Kerber, 1.30pm GMT
Ashleigh Barty hasn’t lost a set so far at Wimbledon, but the Australian world No1 also hasn’t looked entirely convincing. Even in her comprehensive win over her compatriot Ajla Tomljanovic in the quarter-finals there were moments to be concerned about. Angelique Kerber, in contrast, has looked entirely at ease and entirely focused for the most part. She’s also the more experienced player and has the quality to really challenge Barty.
Our Pick: Kerber Win @7/4
Karolina Pliskova vs Aryna Sabalenka, 2.30 GMT
It’s hard to believe Pliskova came into Wimbledon on the back of three consecutive defeats. The Czech is playing the best tennis I’ve seen from her in years, but it must be said the players she’s faced en route to the semis are nowhere near the level Sabalenka is at. Regardless of that the Belarusian has looked somewhat vulnerable, especially in her matches against Katie Boulter and Elena Rybakina. This is a huge chance for Pliskova to turn around a poor few years given her ability. Expect the 29-year old to make her second Grand Slam final, its long overdue five years after her first.
Our Pick: Pliskova win @7/4
