PGA Tour Golf
Date: October 6–9, 2022
The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour in Nevada. Founded 39 years ago in 1983, it is the fourth event of the Tour’s 2019–20 wrap-around season and is played annually in October in Las Vegas.
The Course:
TPC Summerlin is a par 71, 7255 yard course. It has super wide fairways and an average driving distance of 297.8, well above average. It is a birdie fest course, with a winning score of -21 or better the last four years. It has four reachable par 5s.
What makes the difference here is play around the green and putting.
Fun fact – this tournament is another “first win” tourney. In 1996, a young golfer won the precursor to this event, the Las Vegas open, for his first professional win. His name? Eldridge Tont “Tiger” Woods.
Betting Picks:
Patrick Cantlay @6/1, is almost certainly going to open as an enormous favourite here, with a win, two second places, and and a T8 in his last four trips to TCP Summerlin.
Taylor Montgomery @28/1, We believe he has played here a lot during his time at UNLV, so has great course experience.
Matthew Ne Smith @66/1, has historically been super strong here and coming off a good showing last week. Will depend on odds but likely worth a look E/W .
Aaron Wise @20/1, He’s going to eventually win and this tournament is as good as any, another E/W pick.
