Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Arizona.
This week takes us to Silverado golf course. Just like last year, the field is not the best but were glad golf is back, it feels like forever.
Course Review: This is a short course with 4 par 5s, two easily reachable in 2 and the other two can also be reachable in 2 depending on the player’s strategy. Only one of the par 4s plays over 450 so we will see a boat load of wedges hit into these greens. 100-125 approach proximity is something I’ll be looking at because of the length of the course. There isn’t much in the way of penalizing players for missing fairways so bombers can really get after it here and cut some of these corners. A good portion of the fairway bunkers can be carried off the tee so this feels like an event where approach play and putting rule the weekend. It does seem like short game can be important here more-so than other courses when missing the greens, so I will factor that into my plays. This course has shown that many different types of players can be successful so pretty much anyone can be in play this weekend.
Key Stats: SG: Approach, Approach proximity from 100-125 yds, Birdie Average, Par 5 scoring, GIR%, SG: Putting, Par 3 scoring 175-200 yds, SG: Short Game.
Player Target Profiles:
-
Bombers who can score. Guys who are long off the tee and can score birdies should be successful here.
-
Lethal approach players who can putt. They do a good job of putting the pins in tough spots so guys who are accurate off the tee and good positional players should have lots of chances for birdies.
