Formula One 2022 Season Preview and Race Calendar Starting 20/03/22 F1

124

Gone are the years of Mercedes-AMG domination, forget the drama surrounding 2021’s finale and, most of all, forget the frequent difficulty that F1 drivers have found in following and overtaking one another. Because this is 2022, the F1 season in which the formula undergoes its greatest change in best part of half a century.

The cars have been designed specifically to improve the show, with over-body aerodynamics swapped for under-body ground-effects aerodynamics. That wholesale change to the design of the cars also creates the first real opportunity for the competitive order to drastically change which we haven’t really seen since 2014.

The Season kicks off on March 20th in Bahrain, what a way to start with one of our favourite tracks.

Formula One races are normally held in the daytime. However, the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix, in 2008, introduced the concept of night races. Since then, the Bahrain Grand Prix has adopted the night race format, along with Abu Dhabi.

With long straights and big corners this always makes for an exciting race.

Our Pick For Team Of The Season

Mercedes-AMG

It would be foolish to bet against Mercedes-AMG remaining the leading force in F1, so great and so consistent has been its success over the past eight years and its power unit is, if not the fastest, the joint-fastest on the grid. The team is still bridling with injustice over the fiasco that led to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen unjustly snatching what would have been a record-breaking eighth title from the grasp of Sir Lewis Hamilton; hopefully it can channel that energy to become even better. Meanwhile, George Russell has very big boots to fill in the other Silver Arrow. There will be no place to hide, but then we can’t see him needing one.

The Team To Watch (Maybe Cause an Upset)

Williams-Mercedes

Last year was a watershed one for the British team, which has long been fading away in the shadow of its former glories, as it began its new life under the control of an American investment company rather than the Williams family, and seeing George Russell, the young man who had returned to it some positivity with his consistently drove a blue car for the last time. His replacement alongside the largely anonymous Nicholas Latifi will be Alexander Albon, the talented Thai earning a deserved reprieve. With the new big money behind it, we expect Williams to be in a much better position in 2022.

With the last of the drivers been confirmed, the last tests checks and oil changes been done and the final nuts been tightened this has the makings to be one of the best F1 seasons in a very long time. We will post our race previews and betting picks each Thursday before the race weekends so check back.

Race Calendar

With the current situation in Russia the Sochi GP has been call off in September were just awaiting confirmation as to a replacement or if it will just be skipped.
