Some horrendous choices from them. No Messi despite having a superb year + winning the Copa America almost by himself. Chiellini in both teams despite not being a regular starter for the worst Juventus team in a decade. No Lewandowski from Gary because he didn’t impress him in some games 10 years ago. But the worst of them all is Spinazzola, he’s been injured for 6 months, his last game for Roma was 9 months ago, so he’s got in based off 4 good games at the Euros. Their lack of Europe football knowledge really got exposed.

Salah (and Mendy for that matter) wasn't included because he's African.

For a minority this is because of racism but in most cases it's simply a reflection that the quality of their international football isn't as good.

As you can see from picks like Spinazzola (who's been injured most of the year) people give international football far too high a weight in these things.
