The men’s 10 metre platform diving competition at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro took place on 19 and 20 August at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Centre within the Olympic Park. The competition comprised three rounds: Preliminary round: All divers performed six dives; the top 18 divers advanced to the semi-final. So there is alot of diving to get through and guaranteed edge of the seat action this is a gripping event.
Our Picks:
Tom Daley (GBR) @3/1
A consistent performer at the highest level for many years now and winning medals on all stages, He specialises in the 10-metre platform event and is a double World champion in the event; he won the 2009 FINA World Championship in the individual event at the age of 15, before regaining it in 2017.
Yang Jian (CHN) @8/11 Fav
The Chinese star will look to achieve a gold medal but Britain, the United States, Italy and Australia are also expected to push for the podium. Jian is a past World Champion, and has the skill to take a medal in his home games, but the 27 year old will be pushed all the way.
Brandon Loschiavo (USA) @40/1
At 40/1 you could write off the Americans chances but, based on the medals USA normally accumulate a Silver or Bronze could be in touching distance, Loschiavo is headed to Tokyo to compete in his first Olympic Games.
Other Contenders:
Cao Yuan (CHN) @2/1
Aleksandr Bondar (RUS) @12/1
Oleksii Sereda (UKR) @22/1
