Carl Frampton will finally get in the ring for his attempt to become a three-weight world champion when he takes on Jamel Herring on April 3.
Our Pick:
Carl Frampton by KO
Carl Frampton In Rounds 8-10
Herring is a good fighter, he has lost just two of his 24 fights, but he is currently on a six-fight winning streak. He won the Super Featherweight title back in May 2019 when he won a unanimous decision against Masayuki Ito.
His first title defence saw him go the distance against Lamont Roach Jr in November 2019, while his second defence saw him win via disqualification after Jonathan Oquendo was thrown out for repeated headbutts.
Frampton will not resort to those kinds of tactics. There is a lot of mutual respect between the two fighters, but Frampton has been around long enough and been in with some brilliant fighters to know how to get the job done. Herring will have never been in the ring with someone of Frampton’s calibre. I expect Frampton to go to the body quite a lot in this contest, and that will allow him to get Herring out of there in the latter rounds possibly in the 10th with numerous shots to the body.
